This specific area has remained the descriptive region of membership to this day, and is defined thus:
The area is bounded in the north by the North Cape, and in the south by a line drawn east /west from Opotiki through Turangi to Taumaranui and then to Awakino in the west (click here).
Specific subjects of application for funding support that may be considered by the Trustees include –
Distribution of Approved Funding
Specific distribution of the funds will be decided by the Trustees, at their sole discretion, upon their receipt of applications from various Timber industry related sources (within the defined geographical region specified above) who seek monetary support for educational and/or training purposes.
The value of funding to be distributed to agreed and judged-deserving causes will be capped annually by the Trustees at their sole discretion, so that some funds may continue to be available for years ahead.

In these early days of the Trust, applications may be submitted in writing to the Secretary at 1/26 Pleasant Rd, Glen Eden, Auckland 0602 or by email to [email protected] or by email to any of the other Trustees (click here).
Online Applications
As the Trust moves forward, we will in due course facilitate applications to be lodged online, and will advise you when this facility is available.
All applications submitted must clearly illustrate the applicant’sreasons for seeking NTACT assistance and explain the perceived benefits to the applicant person or Company or other industry organisation.
The Trustees will judge the suitability of all applicant submissions and upon approval, or otherwise, advise applicants accordingly in writing.
Applications already received and accepted, for the year ending 31 March 2017, include a Timber scholarship with Massey University, Albany Campus which will be known as the “Northern Timber Association Charitable Trust Training Scholarship” and also 3 First-line Management and 3 Yardman Training courses to be held by Competenz.

- Funding, promoting and supporting educational opportunities which will benefit the Timber industry and its workers
- Establishing scholarships and other incentives for education, to also benefit the Timber industry and its workers
- Providing scholarship opportunities for University and Technical Institute students who wish to focus on the Timber industry
- Funding and supporting Timber industry Training courses that may be facilitated by the likes of BCITO and Competenz
- Supporting other registered charitable entities from time to time, e.g. Rotary Club Young Leadership Awards, Spirit of Adventure, Outward Bound courses, NZ Timber Museum and the like.
